I was replacing a rather large entertainment center and wanted something that was attractive, sturdy, and wasn't going to restrict how I laid out my apartment living room. I was immediately attracted by the cost relative to other stands, but immediately questioned quality as a result. Let me put you at ease. This thing is solid! Upon opening the box, I was immediately impressed by how well packaged and, more importantly, protected the pieces were. Contrary to other reviews, I thought the directions were very easy to follow and screws/pieces are neatly packaged and labeled. It will take a little time and knowledge of using a screwdriver, but you'll be very satisfied with your purchase. I sure have been. If there is one downside, and this is very picky, the cap covers to hide the screws don't stay on. Wiring can also be tricky depending on how big your stereo/surround sound system is - the holes in the back are a little small if you have lots of wires. \nDon't let that dissuade you if your on the fence.

This stand was a replacement for an old school A/V stand, and it really changes the character of our room. The stand is very solid and heavy, and easily holds my new 50" plasma. The instructions are a bit poor, but having assembled dozens of RTA items I knew what to do from the sketches.\n\nThe holes in the back are too small for all the cables that I needed to pass through, but since the back is a very thick piece of wood I felt comfortable expanding the holes to meet my needs. \n\nThe other negative is that the frame around the glass doors is very wide, so any components placed on the very bottom or top of the cabinet have their IR receiver blocked by the frame. I had to rearrange my components to make it work, but someone with less flexibility might get stuck. If you can find this at a local retailer check it out first to make sure it works with your components.

Bought this for my parents, so it couldn't be too modern. Had to keep the cost down to a realm within the birthday gift range. This stand fit the bill. The design could fly in a slightly modern setting as well as traditional. The weight supporting legs and top panel are solid wood, which is nice and also sturdy. Only down side is it took me a whole evening to put together, (had to do some backtracking), and one of the doors ended up slanted and made the whole thing look cheap. Luckily my bro is better at this and fixed the slant so it is hardly noticeable. I would be pretty upset if I couldn't have fixed the slant though.
