I bought the unit because it was a resonably priced for the "advertised premium/high-end" line. It was visually attractive and it was the right width and height for our family room. When it arrived it seemed well made and sturdy but I was suprised to see that it was about 90% particle board and/or medium density fiber board (MDF). This would have been fine but not at the price we paid. The joints were all screwed & glued together, no mortice-tenion etc. But again it still seems fairly sturdy. The unit however is definitely NOT heirloom quality. Also would have liked more clearance in the top center speaker cabinet. The side storage will not fit any components. The lower center storage only fits my receiver, cable box, Blue-Ray player. I was also able to fit a 1 inch hig media player but when the glass door is closed the trim blocks the remote of the top unit (in my case the media player). It seem to hold a lot of media and remotes. I would have liked to have made better use of this space to store more components. I would still recommend the unit for someone less "picky" than myself but they should know what they are getting alot of nicely painted sawdust that has been glued together under lots of pressure.
